Strathcona invests in Saskatchewan’s future workforce with $1M gift to Sask Polytech

Strathcona has made a $1-million contribution to Saskatchewan Polytechnic to support the build of its new campus. Two Power Engineering Technology classrooms will proudly carry our name: the Strathcona Resources Power Engineering Technology Classroom. As our first-ever gift to Sask Polytech, paid over the next five years, this new partnership is a meaningful investment in the future of Saskatchewan’s energy workforce.

“Our investment is about much more than a building,” says Dale Babiak, Chief Operating Officer. “This new campus means more opportunities for students, more graduates ready to make an impact, and ultimately, stronger communities across Saskatchewan. We’re thrilled to stand alongside Sask Polytech in helping students gain the skills and confidence to rise, succeed, and build a bright future.”

Sask Polytech leaders share our excitement. “Today marks the beginning of a strong, enduring partnership,” says Sask Polytech’s President and CEO Dr. Larry Rosia. “Saskatchewan is a formidable yet understated force in Canada’s energy landscape, and Strathcona’s generous gift is helping put Sask Polytech and Saskatchewan on the map, while preparing the skilled workforce our energy future depends on.”

More than 400 Sask Polytech graduates enter energy-related fields every year, from power engineering and industrial mechanics to instrumentation, welding and chemical technology. by bringing several aging buildings together under one modern, technology-rich roof, the joseph A. Remai Saskatoon Campus will help Sask Polytech create modern learning spaces, offer hands-on training, and provide students with access to the latest tools and technologies.

This partnership has been a year in the making and Strathcona is proud to be a part of this campaign and even prouder to help future energy workers rise.
