Strathcona President and CEO, Rob Morgan, was on location in Dubai for this year’s United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28) representing oil and gas energy interests across Western Canada.
“I was honoured to participate in COP28 to promote the important role fossil fuels play in meeting the world’s sustainable energy needs,” says Rob. “This year the oil and gas industry was invited to be a significant part of the conversation, and Canadian energy companies really stepped up to demonstrate how we are advancing global sustainability efforts.”
During his time at the conference, Rob participated in a panel discussion entitled Oil & Gas: Sustainable Policies alongside Chief Sustainability Officer of Cenovus, Rhona DelFrari and President and CEO of Whitecap Resources, Grant Fagerheim. The panel was moderated by The Honourable Scott Moe, Premier of Saskatchewan.
“As Canadians, we have a strong history of technical innovation as we continue to reduce the carbon intensity and environmental impact of our operations,” adds Rob. “Western Canada’s vast hydrocarbon resources can be part of the solution to the issues of global energy security and energy poverty. I enjoyed the opportunity to share our passion for responsible resource development with the audience at COP28.”
Sustainable Saskatchewan Campaign
In advance of the conference, Rob also participated in the Sustainable Saskatchewan campaign, developed to share the important work being done by the oil and gas industry to benefit and support the province and the country. View the video below.
