Through Strathcona’s partnership with Inside Education, Grade 9 students from the Cold Lake/Bonnyville area had the opportunity to explore and learn about the inner workings of Strathcona’s Lindbergh asset during a recent tour.
Jason de Jong, Senior Energy Projects and Development, and Megan Bowen, Senior Sustainability Project Development Engineer, highlighted the basics of thermal oil production and the exciting carbon capture technology we have implemented to minimize waste heat and reduce our carbon footprint.
With the help of two University of Calgary PhD chemistry graduates, Dr. Daniel Padeanu and Dr. Evan Galbert, the kids were given a demonstration of a carbon capture process before being taken on a tour led by Jason through parts of the Lindbergh facility.
