Strathcona hosted its 6th Annual Charity Golf Tournament this summer and is proud to announce another record-breaking year.
Team members, vendors and business partners came together at Heritage Pointe Golf Course in Calgary to connect over 18 holes of golf, a dinner banquet and silent auction, raising approximately $275,000 in support of three community organizations: motionball, Inside Education and The Children’s Cottage Society, which joined the event as a new beneficiary this year.
Representatives from each partner organization joined us throughout the day at Heritage Pointe and LaunchPad, giving golfers an opportunity to learn more about their work and the difference they’re making in our communities.
The event has become a meaningful annual tradition and an opportunity to come together in support of important causes.
“We’re proud to see the event continue to grow, and this year, welcome a third non-profit organization to share in the funds raised,” says Dale Babiak, Chief Operating Officer. “Together, we’re helping make a greater impact in support of organizations that are making a real difference in our communities.”
motionball
motionball is a national non-profit organization with a mandate to introduce the next generation of donors, volunteers and sponsors to the Special Olympics movement through integrated social and sporting events such as their “Marathon of Sport”, which Strathcona employees participate in every summer.

Inside Education
Inside Education is Alberta’s largest environmental and natural resource education charity that supports teachers and inspires students to work toward a balanced, sustainable future for our environment, economy and society.
Through Strathcona’s partnership with Inside Education, their “Energy Innovation Days” brought students from the Cold Lake/Bonnyville area to tour and learn about the inner workings of our Orion asset and the Organic Rankine Cycle system earlier this year.

Children’s Cottage Society
Since 1986, the Children’s Cottage has provided families with prevention programs and support services to help them cope with, and overcome, challenges, build on their strengths, keep their children safe, and turn adversity into possibility.
Strathcona’s partnership with the Children’s Cottage started with toy drives and has evolved over the past few years. In 2024, we became a sponsor of their annual Cottage Care Day, and now, as one of the beneficiaries of our annual golf tournament, we’re proud to see our partnership continue to grow and find new ways to support the important work they do for families in our community.
