Now its 4th year, Strathcona’s annual fun money Casino & Poker Night raised more than $100,000 in support of Lionheart Foundation during this year’s event. For those unfamiliar, Lionheart is an organization that works to improve access to mental health supports for children and adolescents experiencing anxiety-based challenges.
Hosted at the Calgary Petroleum Club, the event, which brings employees, vendors and sponsors together, has seen escalating engagement year-over-year. This year, nearly 300 players participated.
“It is fabulous to see so many gather in support of a great cause,” shares Rob Morgan, Strathcona’s President & CEO. “The money we raise during this event goes a long way in supporting Lionheart and the life-changing mental health services they provide. We couldn’t do this without the participation of our partner companies and sponsors.”
A few tears were shed when this year’s attendees heard first-hand how powerful Lionheart’s support can be. A brave parent shared how Lionheart was able to provide the services they needed to heal their family when all other attempts fell short. Now in stable recovery, that family has graduated from the Lionheart program and shares their story to assure others that the right help is out there if you know where to look.
Lionheart’s Executive Director, Jamilah Edwards, made certain to thank everyone for their incredible support. “The generosity of donors like you is what enables us to implement our mission of providing best-in-class therapy in a timely and appropriate manner in a variety of settings within the community.”
